OPENING OF WALL OF PEACE AT KARUNALAYA

The Disputed Compound Wall is finally constructed after 4 years of legal battle and one year of efforts to restore friendly relations with the neighbouring St. John's Catholic Church, Tondiarpet, which demolished the construction of the compound wall of Karunalaya on 9.1.2006. The then Parish Priest Fr. Henry Louis who instigated the people to demolish the wall, had been transferred and the new Parish Priest Fr. D. Jebamalai is friendly and wanting to put an end to the issue, but only after the judgement and decree of the court dismissing the civil suit filed by the Church asking for permanent injunction.

The Case was indeed fought with patience, at the end Rev. Fr. Sundararaj Francis, a Salesian and an ardent supporter of Karunalaya was compelled by the church by seeking subpoena to be a witness for their side causing hardship to him.  On 25.4.2011 the construction was commenced with the blessing of Fr. D. Jebamalai, parish priest of St. John's Catholic Church in the presence of Fr. Gerard, Rector, Don Bosco Wisdom Town and Patron of Karunalaya.

The demolished wall was constructed again and was blessed and opened by Fr. Sundaraj Francis, in the presence of Fr. Jebamalai. Our Dutch volunteer and friend Ms. Loes Wevers and Mr. Jelmer Baukema both advocates, were the special guests, as they were visiting us.  Mr. S. John Bosco, President, and Mr. B. Ravikumar David, Vice President of Karunalaya were also present along with Dr. N. Paul Sunder Singh, Secretary of Karunalaya.

The Wall was named as WALL OF PEACE.
